The Varcient E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program (which means for Equity, Diversity, Growth, and Empowerment) was established in 2021 to promote diversity in the technology sector for historically underrepresented persons, particularly women and people of color, with a focus on Black and Latinx communities.
“At Varicent, we believe it’s critical to provide services that promote inclusivity in both our industry and our communities,” said Marc Altshuller, President and CEO. “I’m pleased to extend the E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program, which demonstrates our commitment to expanding technology opportunities.” Education is a path to opportunity, and I hope that we can once again allow students to focus on their aspirations rather than the financial obstacles that may be in their way.”
Varicent Edge Scholarship is offering up to 20 $5,000 scholarships this year. High school seniors, students in their final year of upper secondary school, high school/upper secondary school graduates, or current college undergraduates (including CEGEP students) from the United States and Canada are eligible to apply.
Students must be aiming to major in a STEM/technology-related field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Mathematics to be eligible. Applicants must also intend to engage in the full-time undergraduate study for the entire following academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, CEGEP, university, or vocational-technical institution (or equivalent).
Scholarship winners will be chosen using a set of criteria developed by Varicent and reviewed by an internal expert team.
Varicent’s corporate social responsibility program, Our Cause, includes the E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program. Varicent Edge Scholarship is committed to using science and technology to solve some of the world’s most serious problems, resulting in a workforce that is more diverse and purposeful.
Until the first 500 applications are received, applications for the Varicent E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program will be accepted. Scholarship America, the leading designer, and manager of the scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, charities, groups, and people in North America, administers the program.
